Winter in Ottawa doesn’t have to be boring, especially if you’re into snow tubing. It’s one of the easiest winter activities to try: no skills required, just grab a tube and slide down a hill. It’s fun for kids, adults, and anyone who wants to enjoy winter without committing to skiing or snowboarding.
The first time we tried snow tubing as a family was right after we arrived in Ottawa, when we went to Winterlude. It was a lot of fun, and we made beautiful memories from that experience. We were all newbies, and that added even more excitement.
Here are three great places to go snow tubing near Ottawa, all within about an hour from downtown.
Contents
1. Domaine de l’Ange Gardien
Domaine de l’Ange Gardien is one of the most popular snow tubing spots near Ottawa, and for good reason. Located 34 km northeast of downtown Ottawa, it’s about a 30-minute drive. It has 8 slides with different levels, so everyone can find one they’re comfortable with. The best part? An electric tow system takes you back up the hill — no climbing required.

2. Sommet Edelweiss
If you’re looking for snow tubing in the Gatineau Hills, Sommet Edelweiss is a solid option. Located 40–45 km north of Ottawa, about a 35–40 minute drive. It offers five snow tubing slides and a tow lift to bring you back to the top.

This one is for those who don’t mind a bit of exercise. Countryside Adventures doesn’t have a tow lift, so you’ll need to walk up the hill after each run. That said, it’s a relaxed spot, open to all ages, and perfect if you want to spend the whole day outdoors. It’s located 72 km southeast of Ottawa, roughly a one-hour drive.

No car? No problem
If you’re new to the city and don’t have a car, just wait for Winterlude (January 30-February 16) to go snow tubing in Gatineau, just across the Ottawa River. Jacques-Cartier Park transforms into a huge winter playground, with many attractions, including slides where you can try snow tubing for free!
Enjoy!
