20 events you won’t want to miss this weekend in Ottawa

Can you believe this is the last weekend of September??!! And it’s also the beginning of Fall! But that doesn’t mean the cool events in Ottawa are over. Check out at these awesome events. How many are you going to attend?

1. Ottawa Asian Fest Late Summer Edition.

Did you miss the Asian Fest Night Market? Well, you have a second chance to enjoy this awesome festival, which is coming back in September 23-25 due the success of the one in July. There will be more food vendors, shows and performances from local k-pop dancers, singers, DJs, and the Lion Dance.

2. Festival Franco-Ontarien.

This is the 47th edition of this festival which celebrates the French language heritage of people born and raised in Ontario. Concerts and DJ’s. Free admission to youth in the mornings. Children under 10 years old enter for free at all times.

3. Orleans Oktoberfest.

Welcome Fall with this event. Live music, DJs, food stands with German-inspired food, games and prizes. Tickets from 24 dollars, which includes two beer tokens and a bottle of water. Children enter for free. Sept 24 at 4380 Innes Road. From 12-5pm and 6-11pm.’

4. Carp Fair.

This is a traditional agricultural fair which started in 1863. There will be a midway, a beer garden, a petting farm, a variety of shows including a heavy horse show, horse pull, goat show, sheep show, an exhibition of antique machinery, and more! Sept 22-25. 5. Taste of Wellington West.

Over 100 businesses in the Hintonburg and Wellington Village area will offer food samples in exchange for a donation. There will be entertainment, artists and surprises for the whole family. The money raised will be donated to Parkdale Food Centre.

When: Sept 24 from 11am to 4pm. Wellington St West from Island Park to the O-train tracks. FREE. Check out: wellingtonwest.ca

6. Capital Pop Up Cinema

Bring your camping chair, a blanket, and enjoy an outdoor movie. Where? Sparks St (Kent/Lyon). Friday Sept 23 at 7pm. Movie: Beetlejuice (1988). FREE.

7. Wiggly. Waggle, Walk and Run.

This event organized by Ottawa Humane Society is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the most vulnerable animals. Bring your dog and participate in the walk or the runs. There will be a 1K kids run, a 2K furry run, a 3K walk, and 5K and 10K races.

There also will be a Family Fun Zone, a Pet Pavillion, and prizes. FREE admission. Where: At the great lawn at Lansdowne Park on Sunday Sept 25. Register at: ottawahumane.ca/wigglewalk22

8. Ottawa International Animation Festival 

This is North America’s oldest and largest animation festival. It runs from Sept 21 to Sept 25. There will be screening, exhibits, workshops and entertainment. Check out the schedule here: animationfestival.ca

Family Day: Animation screening and hands-on workshops. Saturday Sept 24 from 10am to 4pm at Ottawa Art Gallery, 10 Daly St. FREE.

9. Colores Andinos concert.

Latin American Music. More than 20 instruments played. At Shenkman Arts Centre.  245 Centrum Boulevard, Orleans. Tickets: 15$. Wednesday Sept 21 at 2pm. After the 1-hour show enjoy coffee and treats.

10. RBC Race for the kids

This event is in support of CHEO’s work for youth mental health. There will be a 2K Family Run/Walk, and a 5K and 10K. Where: On the trails of Wesley Clover Park, Kanata. Free admission to watch the races.

There will be a Family Fun Zone with inflatables, rock climbing walls, games, and more. Sunday Sept 25 from 8am. Check out: cheofoundation.donordrive.com

11. Fall Season Craft Market.

Shop from more than 40 local vendors. Sunday Sept 25 from 10am to 3pm. Where: At Glebe Community Centre. Free admission and free workshop.

12. Ottawa Redblacks vs Toronto Argonauts.

Football match. Theme game: come dressed like your favourite superhero. Saturday Sept 24. 7pm. At TD Place. 1015 Bank St.

13. Pique Fall Edition

Live music performances, visual art installations and DJ sets, on multiple stages and levels, indoors and outdoors. Entry is PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN. Saturday Sept 24 from 5pm to 2am. Where: Arts Court, 2 Daly Ave. Details here: thisispique.com

14. Harvest Market in Cumberland.

Over 100 vendors, among crafters, makers, artists, farmers, and food vendors. Saturday Sept 24 from 10am to 3pm. At the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum, 2940 Old Montreal Road, Cumberland.

15. Fall Festival at McKellar Park

Games, crafts, live music, food, zumba and more. Free admission. Sunday Sept 25 from 10:30am to 12:30pm. More details: mckellarpark.ca

16. Butter Tart Festival Market

The first butter tart festival in town. There will be a contest for the best butter tart. Local artisans will sell their handmade creations alongside ice cream, sandwiches, and soups. Saturday Sept 24 from 10am to 3pm. Address: 6154 Abbott St. Stittsville.

17. Volunteer Expo 2022

Fifty non-profit organizations will share opportunities, hold info sessions and more. Friday September 23 at Saint Paul University. From 1-5pm. Check out: volunteerottawa.ca

18. The Original Navan Market.

Over 100 vendors. Sunday September 25, from 10am to 3pm at Navan Fairgrounds.

19. Cheerfully Made Fall Market.

More than 100 vendors will show their products on Saturday Sept 24 and Sunday 25 at Bell Sensplex Kanata from 10 am to 5pm.

20. Fly Market Theo Ottawa

Over 30 vintage vendors. Saturday Sept 24 from 11 am to 5pm at 305 Rideau St.
