18 events you won’t want to miss this weekend in Ottawa

Want to start planning your weekend? As usual there are many events taking place in Ottawa, and among them are markets, art shows, theater and sporting events. Check out this list, and if you don’t see your event here, feel free to share it in the comments.

1. Fall Rhapsody. Last weekend

If you haven’t visited the Gatineau Park so far this fall, this will be your last chance to get on the free shuttle that takes you to many beautiful and popular spots, like Pink Lake, the Mackenzie King Estate, Champlain Lookout and others. 2. Pawchella

Freedom Dog Rescue organizes this event to raise funds for helping rescue dogs. There will be live music, a silent auction, a photo booth, drinks, dancing and more. Saturday Oct 22 at 70 Hines Rd, Kanata. From 5pm. Tickets from 15.50 dollars. Check out their ig account: @freedomdogrescue

3. Spooktacular Craft Market, Glebe

There will be a free workshop onsite and a silent auction. The proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County. Saturday Oct 22 from 10:30am to 3pm at The Glebe Community Centre. FREE.

4. The Original Navan Market

Shop from over 100 vendors on October 23 from 10am to 3pm at Navan Fairgrounds. FREE.

5. Freshmeat

Independent Theater Festival. Shows will run until Oct 22 at Arts Court Studio. Tickets cost 25 dollars but Thursday 20 is “pay what you can.” Address: 2 Daly Ave. Floor 2. Check out: freshmeatfest.com

6. Signatures Handmade Market

This market showcases the works of over 150 Canadian artists, artisans, craft makers, and designers from coast-to-coast. Where: Aberdeen Pavilion, Lansdowne Park. Oct 20-23. General admission 8 dollars. See schedule here: signatures.ca

7. Ottawa Senators vs Arizona Coyotes

Cheer the Ottawa’s Senators in their battle against the Arizona Coyotes in a National Hockey League match. At the same time, enjoy their Oktoberfest party. Beer garden opens at 1pm. Game starts at 4pm. Saturday Oct 22 at Canadian Tire Centre, 1000 Palladium Drive, Kanata.

8. The Ultimate Vintage Shopping Expo

Vintage décor, antiques, vintage clothing, vintage Christmas decorations, Indigenous carvings, and more. Where: The Fieldhouse at Carleton University, 85 University Rd. Saturday Oct 22, 10am-5pm, and Sunday 23, 10am to 4pm. PAID. Details here: https://www.vintageshow.ca/

9. Wall Candy Expo

Features NOIR, a two-day fine art exhibit featuring over 50 professional artists from Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and areas in between. Cocktails, treats, a photo booth and more. 10. Atletico Ottawa vs Pacific

The Atletico Ottawa soccer team must win on Sunday in order to play what would be its first ever final in the Canadian Premier League! Oct 23 at 2pm. At TD Place.

11. One World Bazaar

An old barn has been converted into an international marketplace with goods from all over the globe. It runs every weekend until November 20th. Where: 6110 Mitch Owens Rd. Manotick. FREE. Check out: oneworldbazaar.ca

12. International Choreographer’s Showcase

Three-day hip hop dancing performances and master classes from Friday Oct 21 to Sunday Oct 23. For more information check out Culture Shock Canada on Instagram.

13. Paint and Plant

A Paint night to raise awareness about domestic violence. There will be food, refreshments, paint kits and plant kits with a plant. Tickets are sold by donation. Studio 20/20 at 299 Bank St. Saturday Oct 22 at 6pm. Check out: www.project-agape.org

14. Fall Nature Hike

This is an inclusive event for all nature loving folks (BIPOC women, BIPOC men, Two-spirited, BIPOC non-binary, BIPOC 2SLGTBQIA+ and allies). They will explore Wolf Trail in Gatineau Park. Sunday Oct 23 from 10am to 12pm. Reserve your spot at eventbrite.ca FREE.

15. Home coming, Art, Market, Music

A free, all-ages art vendor market with musical performances to celebrate the reopening of Montreal Road and the arts in the Vanier community. Saturday Oct 22 from 1pm to 5pm. Address: 271 Marier Avenue.

16. Movement and Moves

Free and family-friendly event. There will be demonstrations from professionals who will show how to stay active and the importance of movement in the spirit of wellness. Sunday Oct 23 from 1-3pm. Where: 30 Woodfield Drive, Ottawa. Register at eventbrite.ca

17. No borders Art Festival

18. Beyond the Art
