It’s the middle of the week, but are you already looking forward to the weekend? This weekend we have three cultural festivals: from India, Palestine and Greece, one big fair, a fireworks show that continues, a market, a street festival at Byward Market, and a multicultural festival in Gatineau. 1. The Great India Festival.
This event promises to be a memorable one! Cuisine, music, dancing shows, workshops on yoga, henna, block printing; heritage exhibits, and panel discussions to celebrate India culture. This festival is recognize as one of the top 40 cultural festivals in North America. Where: at the City Hall from Aug 11 to 14. One day ticket, 6 dollars, or 15 dollars for the 4 days.

2. The Capital Fair.
This is a huge fair with many attractions like animal shows, midway rides, Highland games (a celtic tradition that involves pipe bands, heavy athletics and Highland dance competitions), educational demonstrations, and the Demolition Derby. PAID. Where: 4837 Albion Road (Rideau Carleton Raceway). When: From Aug 12 to 21.

3. Grands Feux du Casino Lac Leamy.
This event continues until Aug 20. It’s an international competition of fireworks! It takes place on the grounds of the Canadian Museum of History, where people can watch the fireworks launched from a boat on the Ottawa river. There is also food and entertainment on the site. PAID. The pyrotechnics shows are on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9pm. They are visible from the Ottawa shore.

4. Greek Festival
Greek food and a variety of events like concerts and amazing dancing. They will also hold a Multicultural Night on Saturday at 6:30pm with the participation of Venezuelan, Colombian, and Mexican performers. Where: 1315 Prince of Wales Dr. August 12-15 between 4:30pm and 10pm. Monday 12-2pm FREE.

5. Festival Pakistan.
Music, stage performances and vendors to celebrate Pakistan Heritage Month. At Strathcona Park in Sandy Hill. Sunday Aug 14 from 12 to 7pm. FREE.

6. Summer in the City Craft Market.
Over 40 vendors among local artisans and makers. Indoor event. FREE. Where: Glebe Community Centre, 175 Third Ave. Saturday Aug 13 from 10:30 am.

7. Ohh Music, Arts and Streetwear Festival.
Live music, performances and vendors at York St in the Byward Market. Saturday 13th from 12pm to 8pm. FREE.

8. Gatineau Day of Multicultural Diversity.
Dance, music, gastronomy, workshops for the whole family, entertainment for children. Shows by Lebanese, Colombian, Mexican, Dominican, Japanese, Brazilian, Caribbean and Cuban performers. Where: Parc Moussette Sunday Aug 14, from 10am to 5:30pm. FREE.
