43 events you won’t want to miss this weekend in Ottawa – Jan 24-28

1. Greely Winter Festival

The 49th edition of this festival is here! Enjoy free activities like sleigh rides, magic show, snow painting and ice demonstrations (weather permitting) with music by Dr Kaboon. FREE. There will also be a pancake breakfast, comedy night, dancing, youth dance and other paid events. When: January 25-28. Main day is Saturday 27. Where: Greely Community Centre, 1448 Meadow Drive.

2. Rideau Canal Skateway 54th season

The Canal was opened last Sunday partially for its 54th season but with the coming warm temperatures it’s very likely it will be closed any moment for an undetermined time. Check out the NCC website for updates.

3. PWHL Ottawa-Boston

Cheer on Ottawa’s professional women hockey league today when they face Boston. Tickets from $20. When: Wednesday Jan 24 at 7pm. Where: At TD Place, 1015 Bank St.

4. Carleton Cup

This fun triathlon is back in Ottawa. The participants will skate on the canal, run through the streets of Byward Market and drink at The Aulde Dubliner and Poor House. If the canal is not open, there will still be a Carleton Party at the Aulde Dubliner. Tickets $25, $35. This is a charity in favor of the Cystic Fibrosis community. When: Saturday Jan 27 at 7pm. 5. Nature Nocturne Glow

Glow, one of the famous parties held at the Canadian Museum of Nature, is already sold out, BUT you still have a chance to win tickets through contests! Visit the @naturenocturne page on Instagram to learn more. When: Friday January 26 at 8pm. Where: Canadian Museum of Nature, 240 McLeod St.

6. Trend Arlington Winter Carnival

Enjoy free family activities: horse-drawn sleigh rides, magic shows, hockey games and skills competitions, family skating, roasting marshmallows by an open fire, an ice gem scavenger hunt and delicious food and drinks. 7. Senators Games

The Senators have two home games this week. Tickets from $35. When: Thursday Jan 25 at 7pm vs Boston Bruins Saturday and Jan 27 at 7pm vs New York Rangers. (With live intermission performance by Rêve) Where: Canadian Tire Centre, 1000 Palladium Drive.

8. Ottawa 67’s vs Niagara Ice Dogs

Cheer on Ottawa’s junior hockey team against Niagara Ice Dogs. Tickets from $22. When: Saturday Jan 27 at 3pm. Where: At TD Place, 1015 Bank St.

9. Yuk Yuk’s Women’s Comedy Night

Enjoy a night of comedy among friends and support Cornerstone – A Womens Charity in Ottawa. Your ticket includes entry to the comedy event, buffet dinner (includes tax & gratuity) and karaoke afterwards! Tickets $64.17. Friday Jan 26 from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. 10. Rewind: A roller skating jam

11. Women of the Fur Trade 

This lively historical satire of survival and cultural inheritance shifts perspectives from the male gaze onto women’s power in the past and present through the lens of the rapidly changing world of the Canadian fur trade. PAID. Jan 17-27. Azrieli Studio, 1 Elgin Street, Ottawa. 

12. The Annual Bazaar Ramadan Delights

The annual bazaar is the joy of Ramadan, one shopping point for all the needs of the holy month. Family atmosphere like no other, meals from all countries. 17. Iceberg at the Canadian Museum of History

Visit this installation made up of a series of illuminated metal arches that each make a particular sound. 18. Parliament Immersive Experience

19. Lansdowne Market
